ArabTRUST

- the dundee united supporters’ trust

The Supporters’ Trust was established in 2003 and is open to all Dundee United supporters. It is registered as an Industrial & Provident Society to ensure that it operates under strict democratic principles and in the interests of its members at all times. Its main objectives can be summarised as:
  • Influence – to influence the decision making of the Club
  • Ownership – to acquire a collective shareholding in the Club
  • Representation – to secure supporters’ representation on the Board
ArabTRUST
ArabTRUST is now the second largest shareholder in the Dundee United Football Company Ltd and has an Associate Director, Colin Stewart, elected to the Board of Dundee United.

This has been achieved by strategic aims which can best be summarised as supporting United’s youth and community work, whilst increasing the collective shareholding on behalf of fans and thereby increasing their influence at the Club.

Since its formation, ArabTRUST has invested over £170,000 in United, with most of this directed towards specific and essential items of youth development funding.

Funds raised by ArabTRUST are used to meet four main aims:

Raising funds for the DUFC youth system – Sponsorship of the non professional youth development teams for all age groups to allow purchase of essential playing kit. Purchase of further specific items of kit, such as track suits and polo shirts when necessary and assistance with transportation costs and other equipment. ArabTRUST has also provided assistance to the Club’s youth academy set up at St John’s High School, Dundee

Assisting with and raising funds for football related community projects - Including specific funding for the Club’s not for profit community schools project run by Dave Bowman, the organisation of anti racism and anti sectarianism seminars for local schools and other community based projects.

Buying shares in the Dundee United Football Company Ltd. – ArabTRUST now holds the second largest shareholding in United giving our members a meaningful collective ownership stake in the Club. We pursue a policy of seeking shares in United in return for its funding inputs.

Fan Representation – ArabTRUST has an Associate Directorship on the United Board of Directors to ensure the views of our members are represented.

The Trust has also provided essential funding and sponsorship for specific projects and initiatives, which might never have been implemented without the financial support of the Trust. These annual sponsorship amounts are such that ArabTRUST is now regarded as one of the official sponsors of Dundee United.

The Trust also provides non monetary support in terms of undertaking Anti Racism and Anti Bigotry seminars for schoolchildren, resource assistance at peak periods and other valuable assistance of a general nature to the Club.

ArabTRUST is the major sponsor of the Dundee United Hall of Fame.

Dundee United Chairman Stephen Thompson said, “We are indebted to the members of ArabTRUST for all of their valuable support over the last few years. It is perhaps not always appreciated just how much support and funding the Trust has provided to the Club and, indeed, all of the hard work undertaken to not only raise the funds for this, but also to undertake all of the other activities supported by the Trust. I’d therefore like to take this opportunity to thank all of the members of ArabTRUST and its hard working Board for their invaluable support and assistance. I’d also encourage more supporters to join the Trust and help them expand and develop further.”
