CARTILAGE DAMAGE FOR WRIGHT

18th October 2000

Experienced Stephen Wright is poised to bring a smile back to the face of Manager Alex Smith. The former international defender looked set for another lengthy sidelining after suffering cartilage damage in last weekend's SPL defeat by Hearts. Initial fears were that the injury was a recurrence of the ligament damage which has restricted the 29 year-old to just six top team starts.

Boss Smith was delighted to report, "Surgery may not be required - and that would be a major boost to all concerned". Wright remains under treatment at Tannadice, prior to re-visiting a specialist next week but hopes are high on an earlier than scheduled recovery.
