UNITED IN HIBS PENALTY CONTROVERSY

30th December 2000

An impressive defensive performance by United at Easter Road today failed to win a deserved point when a last minute penalty decision, in the seventh minute of injury time, cost them the game.

Hibs Russell Latapy converted the controversial penalty and as the home fans celebrated the United camp were stunned at the last-minute turn of events.

The last time United visited Easter Road back in August they lost 3-0 and despite today's set-back there was clear evidence that United now have a much improved squad as they enter the second-half of the season.
