The big selection issue facing United boss Alex Smith on Friday as Sunday's SPL clash with Rangers approached was who should anchor the home midfield.
Injury and suspension has ruled out the three most obvious contenders for that role. Dave Hannah and Jamie Fullarton are both on the long-term injury list while Craig Easton will again miss out through suspension when the defending champions come visiting.
Alex, though, has been working on a plan to counter the problem and has admitted he knows who will be filling in. "It's been a problem because we need a player who will sit in while the likes of Charlie Miller get forward, but I do have one in mind. I won't be giving anything away until just before kick-off though," he said.
