Contrary to early reports that it would take place on Wednesday week, Saturday's postponed visit to Aberdeen has been rescheduled for February 6.
United team boss Alex Smith had made it clear he would be reluctant for the game to go ahead next week, just a few days after Sunday's televised clash with Rangers at Tannadice. For their part, Aberdeen admitted to problems caused by their hospitality lounges being pre-booked for Christmas parties next week, so the clubs agreed the February date provided the best option. By that time United should have been boosted by the return to action of at least three of their long-term casualties.
"Jim Paterson, Danny Griffin and Steven Wright are all making very good progress and if they do not suffer any hitches, I would expect them to be involved again after the winter break," said Alex.
Midfielder Dave Hannah, troubled by a leg strain since October, remains a major worry.
