LAUCHLAN AND LILLEY BACK AGAINST HIBS

27th December 2000

Although disappointed by the Boxing Day defeat against League leaders Celtic, United boss Alex Smith was remaining upbeat on Wednesday and is looking forward to welcoming back suspended pair Jim Lauchlan and Derek Lilley for the weekend trip to another of the SPL's high-fliers - Hibs.

"Having them available again will greatly increase our options for the two games before the break and when you look at how many players we've had out, that's good news," he said. "Against Celtic only Charlie Miller of the players I've signed was available. Lauchlan, Lilley, Jamie Fullarton, John Licina, Stephen Wright and Beto Naveda were all unavailable."

The last four on that list are all injured and none will be ready for the Hibs game - Naveda is back running but has not done any ball work since being carried off against Rangers last week. The names of Hasney Aljofree and David Partridge have been added to the injury list, though both have a good chance of facing Hibs.
