RANGERS DRAW A CONFIDENCE BOOSTER

United produced another hard-working performance in tonight's match against Rangers and were rewarded with a point which not only narrows the points gap by could prove a real confidence booster in the weeks to come.

Manager Alex Smith was delighted. "All in all, I was pleased with the result. I would like to think we will get an awful lot of confience from it."

Star man Jim Lauchlan shared the boss's view. "It's only a point but hopefully we can build on it. The result will gives us a lift. Any point against the Old Firm is always a bonus and the whole place will gain confidence. We've been working hard as a team and we've finally got our reward for it."

United now have seven points from twenty games played and are five points behind the eleventh placed side, St. Mirren who have played one more game than United.
