Spanish guest Raul Sanchez has become a major target for boss Alex Smith as he seeks to strengthen his squad for the vital spell after the winter break.
The Barcelona wing-back will take part in another closed-door friendly this week, and having already discussed his future with Alex Smith, the 20-year-old is set to finalise negotiations within the next few days. If a deal is done, Sanchez would join the Tannadice playing staff under freedom of contract.
Smith confirmed," Raul has continued to impress me during his time here and he seems keen on becoming a United player so we will have another chat. His style of play reminds me of Paul Mason when we were at Aberdeen."
Sanchez may not be the only imminent signing at Tannadice, as another foreign trialist is being scrutinised at the moment, with two more - both from Australia - to arrive next week.
