Teenager Jamie McCunnie's football education will continue at Links Park on Saturday when he makes his Scottish Cup debut against Montrose. The 17-year-old starred for United in the final two SPL games before the winter break and boss Alex Smith confirmed he would be keeping his place for the Cup trip up the East Coast. "Jamie has done very well in the league and I am sure he will cope against Montrose, but he will find out the Cup is something completely different."
Alex also explained his thinking behind the decision not to recall 'number one' keeper Alan Combe, who missed the last game through suspension, is available for the cup, but still banned for the league derby at Dundee on Wednesday. "It is a specialist position and I feel it is better to give Gallacher another game and have continuity rather than chop and change."
United will give their Third Division opponents every respect, but Alex has stressed he expects a Fourth Round berth to be secured at the first time of asking.
