There was good news from Tannadice on Wednesday when the United board announced they had reached agreement with boss Alex Smith over a new contract.
Alex had travelled back from the SFA coaching school at Largs late on Tuesday to conduct negotiations. They went without a hitch and he will sign his new deal at the Club when he is back behind his desk on Friday.
"We are delighted to confirm that we have reached agreement with Alex and we are greatly looking forward to working closely with him next season and beyond," a United spokesperson commented. "We will continue to support him in the same way we have since he first took the reins at Dundee United."
