Manager Alex Smith announced on Tuesday that Argentine striker Beto Naveda will not be offered a new contract with United.
The 28-year-old joined up at Tannadice in the autumn, but despite a promising start has failed to hold down a regular top team place. While things have not worked out, when he announced Naveda's contract was not being renewed Alex had nothing but praise for the former Boca Juniors man.
"He was by far the best of the players we brought over from South America and throughout his stay here his attitude has been first class," he said. "I would like to thank him for his efforts and wish him all the best for the future."
Meanwhile, long-term absentee Jamie Fullarton has played himself into contention for a squad place this weekend after completing an hour in the under-21 win at Motherwell on Monday.
