United's shirt sponsorship deal with Telewest has been extended until the summer of 2003 and by then the partnership will have been running for seven years, one of the longest in Scottish football.
This extended relationship with the telcommunications company is worth a guaranteed annual six-figure sum to the Club and there are additional bonuses available which are dependent on United's results.
Steve Carlin, Telewest's Scotland sales director, is optimistic that his company could be handing over extra cash to the Club.
"Although the past five years have been fairly successful we can always do with a little more success, and I think we'll get that this year," said Mr. Carlin.
United Chairman Doug Smith commented, "We are delighted to continue our strong relationship with Telewest. This is excellent news for Dundee United and the renewal of this arrangement demonstrates that major companies are interested in this club and see us as an important player in the Scottish game."
The fact that such a high profile company is prepared to keep faith with the Club for seven years speaks volumes and we are determined to reward that loyalty."
