Ronnie O'Brien today signed for United on loan from Serie A giants Juventus until the end of the season after clearance was finally received and he is expected to take some part in tonight's Forfarshire Cup match against Brechin at Glebe Park.
It's been a frustating time for the 22 year old Dubliner and he is now looking forward to extending his football knowledge and experience.
"I'm glad the clearance has finally come as the football here is a decent standard and it's all experience for me. I've played in a few places and a lot of different systems. The English game is faster than the Italian game but in Italy it's more controlled."
"Hopefully I can make these experiences count when I play for Dundee United. It all comes down to playing football. There's not much of a difference between United and Juventus because there's only so much you can do with a football," was the down-to-earth summary.
"Obviously the individual coaches are different so it depends how each of them view the game. I've been impressed with the coaches at United. They like their physical work and run you hard but they use the ball a lot as well."
So far everything at Tannadice is as he anticipated. "I didn't expect any less at United. No matter what you say they are a Premier side. You're not going to get bad players at a club like this," explained the former Irish Under-21 player.
