New arrival Ronnie O'Brien's hopes of finally taking a bow in United colours were washed away on Thursday night when a late cloud burst led to the Forfarshire Cup visit to Brechin being postponed.
The 22-year-old loan signing from Juventus had been pencilled in after clearance finally arrived from Italy earlier this week and he even got so far as warming up with his new team-mates before a cloud burst put paid to the Glebe Park tie.
''It was frustrating for Ronnie and the rest of the boys, but there was nothing anyone could do. The referee even waited thirty minutes to see if the water would drain off the park, but it was still unplayable,'' said boss Alex Smith.
