EXTENTION OF GOOD RECORD IS THE AIM

21st September 2001

Manager Alex Smith knows it will be tough but is looking for a return to a winning way when Rangers visit Tannadice on Saturday evening.

United have lost on their last three outings, but Alex saw enough in the unlucky defeat at Aberdeen last week to suggest the win he wants is not far away.

"If the boys show the same spirit and concentration as they did at
Pittodrie we can take the points, but as always we are expecting a very difficult game against Rangers," he said on Friday. "However, we have a good recent record against them and if we play as we can I know we can continue it."

Definitely out tomorrow are suspended pair Jim Lauchlan and Jamie McCunnie as well as the injured Dave Hannah and Jamie Fullarton. After impressing in training on Friday Jim Paterson, out recently through illness, has been included in the squad.
