Dundee United today announce attacker Matty Smith has extended his contract at the Club until May 2020.

The 21-year-old local lad joined United from St Johnstone in 2014 and made his debut in a 3-3 Premiership draw in May 2016 before scoring his first goal in a 4-1 Betfred Cup victory over Cowdenbeath in July 2017. Matty's 20-yard strike against Queen of the South in a 3-1 away league win was voted the goal of the season at the Dundee United annual awards in April 2018.

Matty has played 24 times and has scored four goals in a United shirt.

Manager Csaba László said, "Matty has shown he can be an essential player for us. He is still young, but I now want to see him bring more consistency to his game. I am happy he has signed this contract because he can improve as a footballer here while helping Dundee United reach our goals."
