United took all three points courtesy of a last minute goal from Steven Thompson to defeat Hearts 2-1 at Tynecastle today.
There were few attempts on goal in the first half and it was no surprise that the score remained 0-0 when the teams went in at half-time.
The breakthrough came in the 50th minute when Jim McIntrye controlled a high cross-field pass from Charlie Miller before drilling his shot from a difficult angle past Antti Nieme into the back of the Hearts net. Hearts raised the tempo of their game as a result and equalised after 70 minutes when a Boyack fee kick was headed home by Scotland Under-21 squad member Stephen Simmons.
In the final minute a superbly-timed Thompson header from a well-measured McCunnie cross gave United victory to end a run of four SPL defeats.
