SMITH SYMPATHISES WITH SUFFERING SUPPORTERS

24th September 2001

Manager Alex Smith is desperate that the Tangerines support is repaid for the hurt caused by Saturday's debacle against Rangers.

As he prepared his side for CIS League Cup duty against Dumbarton at Tannadice on Tuesday, Smith admitted, "The one consolation we have from all of it is that as professionals we can down to the task immediately of righting the wrongs which were acted out at the weekend."

"Unfortunately the fans can't do that. All they can do is head into their work and take the stick for the result. The game against Dumbarton offers us an early opportunity to make it up to those supporters who suffered. We owe it to them."

Jim Lauchlan and Jamie McCunnie will return after suspension, but David Partridge is ruled out by a ban
