DETERMINED APPROACH REQUIRED

25th September 2001

Manager Alex Smith is looking forward to tonight's CIS Cup game with Dumbarton and is expecting a hard-working approach from everyone who is selected.

"This is an opportunity for us to bounce back after the Rangers game and make up in some way to the supporters for that massive disappointment," he explained. "There were signs in the Aberdeen game and for 20 minutes at the weekend that we were getting back, in a collective fashion, to doing what we had been at the start of the season. But in the second half against Rangers we committed cardinal sins and were punished heavily."

"I am not the first manager nor is this the first club to get a 'doing' like that. It happened to Martin O'Neill and Celtic and Dick Advocaat and Rangers in Old Firm games last season. It is all about how you react. We have stuttered lately and need to get back into gear."

"For that to happen we require to have everybody playing for the jersey. We cannot be carrying passengers. We have got to get back to winning ways for the supporters. We watched Dumbarton and they did well. We have got to give them every respect going into this game but we also have to get the job done."
