United manager Alex Smith praised his players for the way in which they went about their business in the 3-0 CIS Cup win over Dumbarton following so soon after the 6-1 defeat by Rangers last Saturday.
"I think the team needs to be complimented for recovering so quickly from such a heavy defeat," said Smith. "They went about their business in a very professional manner and thoroughly deserved their win."
"It was a far more solid performance although, with all due respect, it was a different level of opposition altogether. These kind of games can be very tricky as some of the other results tonight show."
"The opening goal helped to settle us down but Dumbarton played some good football in spells and had a couple of good efforts. Once we got further ahead it dented their confidence and we were always going to be okay."
