It was evident in the first few minutes that the Dundee United women were determined to beat Hamilton as the last two games between the sides had resulted in defeat.
With an early opportunity for Tammy-Lee Harkin and several strong, long balls and crosses from Ellie Jai Reid, Dundee United were putting the pressure on Hamilton. The 21st minute saw what should have been a goal for Dundee United. The ball hit the crossbar and bounced just over the goal line. However, without linesmen present, the referee did not count it as a goal and played on. Just before half time, Hamilton scored two goals within three minutes, one of which occurred due to miscommunication leading to a pass back and an indirect free kick inside the penalty area.
Isabella Rosalina and Nakia Graham continued to have chances in the second half. However, Dundee United saw its first goal from Neve Guthrie who received long ball inside the Hamilton penalty area and was taken out by the keeper, resulting in a penalty. The second goal for Dundee United came in the 82nd minute for Tammy-Lee Harkin as she took a free kick from just outside the Hamilton penalty area. The coaches seemed pleased with the result, but stated it was unfortunate not to have gone away with three points.
The next game is on Sunday, 3rd November, away to VS Hutchison Vale at the Saughton Enclosure.
