United's utility player 24 year old Jamie Buchan has asked to be placed on the transfer list, a request that the Club has granted. Manager Alex Smith explained the position. "There was an agreement in Jamie's contract that after 40 matches he could renegotiate new terms. The Club acknowledged this and made a considerably increased offer but this has not satisfied the player. Dundee United are not prepared to increase the offer and as a result, Jamie has decided to ask for a move and the Club have agreed.
Jamie Buchan was signed on a Bosman from Aberdeen on the 8th of June 2000 and has some eighteen months left on his existing contract. He has to date started 44 matches as well as 4 substitute appearances, his last first team role being against Rangers in September in the 1-6 SPL reverse at Tannadice. His only goal was a vital one, a 25 metre swerving drive which was enough to see off Motherwell at Tannadice last season in a crucial SPL post split encounter.
