United have released three of the Club's younger players as manager Alex Smith continues to prune the playing staff.
Blair Sturrock, Kevin McDonald and Gary Middleton have found it difficult to make the breakthrough into a first team squad whose quality has been greatly enhanced since the arrival of Alex Smith.
"We have a squad now of around 20 to 22 players, any of whom I would be happy using and we are covered across the pitch from the goalkeeper to the frontmen," said Alex Smith.
"Two of the three young players being released are strikers and we now have four real first-team strikers here in Derek Lilley, Jim Hamilton, Steven Thompson and Jim McIntyre. Added to that there are the two young lads Steven McConalogue and David Winters, so that is six that are ahead of them in the queue."
