Dundee United are pleased to announce that defender Liam Smith has signed a contract extension until 2023.

The 24-year-old joined in April 2019 and recently made his 50th appearance for the Club. Overall Liam has played 51 times and scored his first goal in December with a sublime finish in the home match versus Rangers.

Liam said,"I enjoy being a part of things here at United and it was an obvious decision to continue my development here. We have an excellent spirit within the squad and we are all enjoying the challenge of Premiership football as a group. It is clear that this Club wants to continually improve collectively and individually and that means it is a great place for me to play my best football moving forward."

Manager Micky Mellon said. "Liam has been very consistent for us. He has good experience despite being still quite young and, much like this Club overall, we will look for him to kick on now and improve even more over the next few years. This is what this Club is all about. We want to develop the considerable talent that is here and improve collectively as a squad and give the fans a team to be proud of."

Liam will hope to make his 50th start for the Terrors as they take on Hamilton away tomorrow at 3pm.
