HAMMY’S DONE IT BEFORE

15th October 2001

Saturday’s sensational goal against Hibernian in the SPL was not the first time Jim Hamilton had scored a goal like that. “I scored a similar goal from further out against Hamilton when I played at Dens. I also nearly scored, again from further out, against Rangers in the 1-0 Cup win last season however Klos just managed to tip it over.” It was also noticeable that Jim scored the equaliser against Hibs from a very similar position from where he scored United’s last minute equaliser in the CIS Cup at Tannadice against St Johnstone last Tuesday. “I like to drop back to the far post position in anticipation of the ball coming over and it has worked in the last two matches. As with my chipped goal, it is good when things that you attempt come off and I’m feeling very confident at the moment.” It was reported in some quarters that Jim had claimed that his magnificent goal had been a fluke. Hammy countered that. “I meant it!” he stated.
