JOHN BLACKLEY’S UNDER-21 ANALYSIS

23rd October 2001

United Assistant Manager John Blackley was reasonably satisfied with United’s Under-21 Team performance against Hearts at Tannadice yesterday evening. “I felt that the lads applied themselves quite well and demonstrated good pace while passing the ball well,” explained John. “I felt we let ourselves down in that our final ball was often not as good as it needs to be. This meant that we played well in general terms without scoring. To an extent, this let us down at East End Park last Monday.” John was pleased that Jamie Fullarton got back into action last night. “Jamie came through very well and when he came off after an hour, we lost the guidance and influence that he exerts on the park. It was always our intention to give him sixty minutes and he came through the match in the time he was on the field very well indeed.”
