RHYS CAVES JOINS AIRDRIEONIANS ON LOAN

Dundee United can confirm Our Academy graduate Rhys Caves has joined League One side Airdrieonians on loan until January.

The 17-year-old midfielder arrived at Tannadice in February 2019 from Rangers and has been a mainstay in the Under-18s and Reserves ever since. He's also experienced first-team training sessions and was named in the matchday squad against Elgin City earlier this season.

Having now graduated from the 18s squad, Rhys will look to take the next step in his development at the Penny Cars Stadium by experiencing regular first-team football.

Head of Player Pathway and Loans Brian Grant said: "This is an excellent opportunity for Rhys who will get experience at a high level with an ambitious team. At his age, it's key he gets regular game time and with no reserve league this season, we think it's best that he heads out and gets that opportunity at a great level.

"Airdrie had a fantastic season last year finishing second, and they were really unfortunate not to win promotion via the playoffs. They'll be looking to go one better this season and, hopefully, Rhys can play a big part in that."
