Plans have been submitted today for a new 30,000 seater football stadium at Caird Park West in Dundee as part of the city's joint bid to host the Euro 2008 Championships.
A planning application has been lodged by Scottish Enterprise Tayside on behalf of the joint bid from Dundee United FC, Dundee FC, Dundee City Council and Scottish Enterprise Tayside for the proposed shared stadium.
An extensive public consultation exercise is shortly to be launched by the bid partners to ensure the views of all interested parties are heard. The plans will go on show to the general public in December. Supporters' associations from each club will be invited to take part in meetings and responses will be invited from fans outwith these bodies.
United Chairman Doug Smith said: "We must ensure that this exciting project is to the long-term benefit of Dundee United and commands the confidence of our supporters."
"We would strongly urge Dundee United fans to play a full part in the
consultation process and make their voices heard."
