LILLEY EAGER TO RETURN

14th November 2001

United's top scorer from last season Derek Lilley is philosophical about the knee injury which has plagued him on and off this campaign. Derek, whose last first team action was against Motherwell on the 27th of October where he was substituted by Jim Paterson in the 57th minute, is obviously keen to return to action and will be having the injury scanned tomorrow.

"My knee flares up every now and again," said the Paisley born marksman. "Hopefully Thursday's scan will reveal exactly what is wrong. The problem has been a recurring one over the past six weeks and until it is diagnosed, I cannot train properly."

Derek who hit seven SPL goals last term, perhaps the most vital being at Perth in the penultimate match of the season, has so far hit the net once this campaign, in the 3-2 victory over Dunfermline in August.
