Dundee United: Squad changes

Benjamin Siegrist will leave Dundee United when his contract expires

Benjamin Siegrist, Adrian Sporle, Kevin McDonald, Max Biamou and Florent Hoti will move on at the end of their current deals.

The loan spells of Dylan Levitt and Marc McNulty have also both expired.

Swiss keeper Siegrist played 145 times in four years and made a number of crucial saves during United’s charge towards fourth place.

Midfielder Dylan Levitt scored six times in 27 starts after joining us on a temporary basis from Manchester United.

The Welsh international’s strikes helped United claim four wins and a draw and led to him being named Fans’ Player of the Year.

He returns to Old Trafford after a season-long loan at Tannadice.

Argentine defender Sporle moves on after bagging seven goals in 63 appearances for United during a three-year spell in Scotland.

Striker McNulty netted eight times in 42 starts across two loan spells from English side Reading. His season was curtailed by injury.

Former Scotland midfielder Kevin McDonald was given a platform by the Terrors to relaunch his football career after recovering from a kidney transplant to sign a short-term deal in February.

Adrian Sporle is leaving Dundee United

He played his first game in 19 months in a 2-0 win over Motherwell and went on to play a further ten times for United, including Saturday’s final day victory at Ross County.

Midfielder Florent Hoti played 13 times for the Club after spending the first six months of his United career on loan to Forfar. He also forced his way into the Kosovo U21 squad during his time with us.

French striker Max Biamou managed just three substitute appearances after arriving as a free agent in October, with his time at United being hampered by injury.

Contract negotiations

Talks are continuing with Player of the Year Ian Harkes, Lewis Neilson, Flynn Duffy and Finn Robson over extending their stay. We hope to provide a further update on the progress of these discussions soon.

A number of younger players have also left the club following the expiry of their deals. Nathan Cooney, Rhys Caves, Lennon Walker, Shaun Brown, Dom Naglik and Sam Lovie all leave with our best wishes.

“We’d like to place on record our gratitude to all players who are moving on,” said Dundee United Sporting Director Tony Asghar.

“They have all played a part in the continuing success of the Club in their own unique way both this season and in previous years.

“I believe Dundee United will also have left a positive impression on all these players too. They will always be welcomed back at Tannadice as we wish them all the best in their future careers elsewhere.

“I am continuing discussions with several players to prolong their stay at Tannadice and we hope to provide a further update on those negotiations soon.”
