Dundee United have decided to appeal against Jim Hamilton's red card for violent conduct at last Saturday's SPL match against St Johnstone. The Club took the decision having analysed video footage of the incident that involved Darren Dods of the Perth Saints.
United Manager Alex Smith confirmed the appeal having waited until he studied the evidence for himself. Having been quoted as saying that he would fine Hamilton, who scored the winning goal in the match not long prior to the incident, if he had committed the offence, Alex decided that the appeal was justified.
As things stand, United's leading scorer automatically misses this Saturday's trip to East End Park on SPL duty. He would also be suspended for a further match, the trip to Rugby Park to play Kilmarnock on December 1st, as he would have crossed the sixteen disciplinary points threshold. Should Jim be exonerated of the offence, he would not only be free to play on Saturday, he would also be clear of further suspension.
