Following their Christmas Day training session, the United squad will report to Tannadice today for the real thing when they prepare to take on Hearts in the SPL. Manager Alex Smith knows that United need to begin converting their outfield play into results and will have his players fired up against the Tynecastle side who have now climbed above the Tangerines in the League table. A victory for United today would restore them back above the Edinburgh side.
Manager Alex Smith said, "Firstly let me wish all our supporters a Merry Christmas. We are all looking forward to the Hearts match and we want to start converting our recent good play into wins. We need to begin picking up three points. In our last three matches, we have deserved a larger share of the spoils. Our next two matches are both big games, both at home, and hopefully we can get maximum points."
With two of United's goalscoring threats out for some time through injury, there was good news regarding McIntyre and Lilley. "Jim (McIntyre) was in training over Christmas and Del (Lilley) is ready to play but requires games. Jamie Fullarton is also back to full training after his recent injury."
Alex's thoughts returned to today's match. "It will be tough today. Matches against Hearts are always competitive. Having taken full points this season at Tynecastle, we would like to do the double over them."
Today's match kicks off at 3pm and is pay at the gate.
