Celtic take all three points in a disappointing afternoon at Tannadice

There were four chances following last week’s defeat to St Mirren with Ross Graham, Kieran Freeman, Archie Meekison and Scott McMann replacing Charlie Mulgrew, Tony Watt, Aziz Behich and Jamie McGrath.

FIRST-HALF

United started the game well, carving open an opportunity in the opening two minutes. Archie Meekison showed his link-up ability and set Glenn Middleton off down the United left.

Our number 15 then cut inside and fired a low drive towards goal which was smartly dealt with by Joe Hart. Hart was on hand again to deny Fletcher a rebound - with the United striker being booked for adjudging to have used too much force on the follow-through.

Celtic opened the scoring on the 15-minute mark. Liel Abada’s slick through ball sent Jota chasing down the left who slid the ball neatly across to Kyogo. The Japanese international set himself and fired the ball beyond Eriksson into the corner.

Middleton went close again for the Terrors after a strong challenge on Josip Juranovic by Scott McMann. Middleton latched onto the loose ball but his strike from 20 yards out flashed just wide of the post.

Celtic had their second of the game in style. A mix-up in the United midfield resulted in Kyogo stepping onto the ball 25-yards from goal and curling a first-time effort into the top right corner.

Kyogo completed his hat-trick first-half injury time. United were cut open by O’Riley’s pass to Abada who slid the ball across the face of goal for Kyogo who tapped home.

Celtic added another moments later as O’Riley fizzed the ball across the box for Jota to send the visitors in four up at the break.

SECOND-HALF

Celtic showed no respite in the second half, adding another two goals within ten minutes by way of Juranovic and Abada.

United made four substitutes with Jamie McGrath, Nicky Clark, Craig Sibbald and Ilmari Niskanen replacing Meekison, Fletcher, Middleton and Ian Harkes - but failed to create any real chances in the second half.

The away side’s seventh came just before the hour mark and was almost a carbon copy of some of Celtic's earlier moves - this time the ball being cut back for Abada to finish.

Abada bagged himself another with a quarter of an hour to play before Starfelt’s header wrapped up the scoring at 9.
