SEVEN TERRORS MAKE WAVES ON INTERNATIONAL STAGE

28th September 2022

During the recent international break, seven Dundee United players jetted off to various locations around the globe to represent their country.

For some pulling on their national team jersey is a regular occurrence, but for others, the novelty is yet to wear off.

Dylan Levitt

81% pass accuracy, eight duels won, four interceptions - just a handful of Wyscout stats from Levitt's elegant performance against Poland in the UEFA Nations League.

Starting in his favoured pivot role in midfield alongside Portsmouth's Joe Worrell, the 'silky Welshman' showed why he has 13 caps under his belt for the Dragons by the tender age of 21, dictating the tempo with ease.

Despite ultimately succumbing to a 1-0 defeat at the Cardiff City Stadium, Levitt will have done his chances of being selected in Rob Page's squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Qatar no harm.

Aziz Behich

A seasoned campaigner for his country, left-back Behich claimed cap number 53 for Australia in an Oceania Derby.

The 31-year-old played all 90 minutes in a narrow 1-0 victory as Graham Arnold’s men ramped up preparations for Qatar 2022, Awer Mabil’s 32nd-minute strike the difference between the sides in Brisbane.

Behich is safe in the knowledge he will most likely feature in Qatar this winter, making it two successive World Cup appearances - after featuring in all three of the Soccerroos’ group matches at Russia 2018.

Ilmari Niskanen and Carljohan Eriksson

Niskanen added another feather to his international cap as he made a brief appearance in Finland’s 1-1 draw with Romania in the capital – his 11th to date.

The other half of our Finnish contingent, Eriksson, continues to challenge Bayer Leverkusen stopper Lukas Hradecky for Huuhkajat’s number one jersey.

The Scandinavian outfit finished second place in Group Three of UEFA Nations League B to secure safety, ahead of Montenegro and aforementioned Romania.

Archie Meekison

Following Cole McKinnon’s withdrawal from the squad, Meekison teamed up with Scott Gemmill’s U21’s ahead of their friendly with Northern Ireland in Paisley – mere days after a masterful display against Queens Park in the cinch Reserve League Cup.

On the hour mark, the midfielder trotted onto the park to make his Under-21s debut, going on to execute an exquisite ‘McGeady Spin’ down the left flank to leave his opponent for dead and buy space to deliver into the area. The clip would subsequently circulate on various social media platforms.

Chris Mochrie

Dunfermline Athletic loan prospect Mochrie was another Scotland U21s debutant during the international hiatus, earning that stripe when he entered the fray in the second period at the Blanchflower Stadium against the hosts.

He also made a brief cameo in the return leg of the double-header at the SMiSA stadium, partnering Academy graduate colleague Meekison in midfield for the final 11 minutes.

Craig Moore

Young Terrors skipper Moore is no stranger to representing his country, with five call-ups in the last 12 months alone.

This, however, was his first inclusion at U18 level, as he headed to France for the Limoges Tournament.

Defensive midfielder Moore made his full debut versus Les Bleus on Matchday Two of the competition, also involved in clashes with Poland and Estonia.
