Archie Meekison spoke to DUTV this week after featuring for Scotland U21s during the international break.

Our number 17 was called up as a late edition to Scott Gemmill’s side as they faced Northern Ireland in Paisley.

Even though it was a late call-up, you still want to get on the pitch and help the team - luckily I was able to do that.

Archie made his debut for the U21s following a progression through the age groups.

“It was a big moment. I maybe don’t take them in as much as I probably should but to me, this is just another step forward and hopefully I can make as many appearances for Scotland as I can.

“I value being a top professional. These things have their merits and anytime you make a positive step forward you become more motivated to do even better”.

Our young midfielder is also looking to impress in the first team following a number of positive cameos during last season.

“To get back on the pitch and wear the shirt again would help kick me back into some momentum. We know the quality of players we have - I think the boys have grown some confidence”.
