MANAGER PRAISES HANNAH ATTITUDE

28th December 2001

Alex Smith is in no doubt as to the major contribution played by his Celtic counterpart in the Parkhead sides incredible turnaround in fortunes over the past eighteen months.

"Much of the credit must go to Martin O'Neil and his staff for the way they have gone about the business of restoring Celtic back to the top of Scottish football," stated Alex. "That said, one should not forget some of the astute signings made by recent managers such as John Barnes and Dr Josef Venglos which have more than paid off for Celtic. In fact, this is similar to my own position at Dundee United. There have been signings here at Tannadice made by former managers at the Club where I am getting the benefit. Examples of this are Danny Griffin, Jim Hamilton, David Partridge, Hasney Aljofree, Tassos Venetis and David Hannah who came back to this Club; they were all signed by Paul Sturrock."

The United Manager talked about the spirit and determination of David Hannah (pictured). "He is a very interesting case having been reared at United and then sold to Celtic before being brought back to Tannadice. David epitomises the spirit and commitment that is required. He always gives 100%."

There were no clues from Alex as to team selection except that Danny Griffin is out injured. "We will have to be absolutely focussed in a match that will require our total concentration if we are to take full points."

The match is live on SKY TV and kicks-off at 5.35pm. There remain fewer than 1,000 tickets for the game which is all ticket. For more information on admission, click on ADMISSION INFORMATION on the menu bar.
