This was a match which would feature some of the best young Scottish talent in the game. Alex Smith went for the exact same selection including the substitutes, who had drawn with Livingston last week. Both sides lined up 4-4-2 with the two midfield players on the wings providing an exciting attacking dimension to the match.
Aberdeen fans travelled in large numbers to Tannadice providing United with their third highest attendance of the season so far.
United made a bright start and over the first half were the better team, in particular after Craig Easton (pictured) scored with a strike from sixteen yards on the half hour to net his third of the campaign and put the home side ahead.
After the break, Aberdeen came out a much improved side and equalised through a penalty, converted by former Tangerine Robbie Winters minutes before the hour mark. After scoring, the Dons looked the more likely to add to their total than United.
In the end, each team took a point from what was a very entertaining game, a draw just about the right result.
UNITED: Gallacher, Lauchlan, Easton, Paterson, McCunnie, Aljofree, Griffin
