With United having failed to score in their last three matches, Manager Alex Smith is looking forward to having last season's top striker Derek Lilley and one of this campaign's on form goalscorers Jim McIntyre (pictured) back to full fitness and available for selection. "It would appear that it is only a week to ten days until we will have Lilley and McIntyre back to bolster the squad. With any luck, that will be us back to a full playing pool."
Alex then considered United's next opponents, Aberdeen who visit Tannadice this coming Saturday. "One of the exciting features of this weekend's visit of Aberdeen will be the number of young home grown players on display. Both sides of the "New Firm" have filled their squads with young Scottish talent and this has got to be good for the future of the game in this country. We have McCunnie, McConalogue, McCracken, Gallacher, Easton, Tommo and Paterson. Ebbe has Anderson, McNaught, McGuire, Young etc."
The Manager was clearly delighted to see so many talented young Scots coming through. Also pleasing Alex was the prospect of another gifted home-grown Tangerine playing for United against the Dons. "There is the possibility of playing young David Winters against his brother and former United player, Robbie."
United have already played Aberdeen this season losing at Pittodrie in the SPL. A decent sized crowd is expected with the West Stand (Shed End) open to United supporters.
