UNITED GEAR UP FOR EASTER ROAD VISIT

31st December 2001

United's first match in 2002 will be a trip to Easter Road to face Hibernian in the SPL. The Tangerines have lost five consecutive matches to the Edinburgh side although Sauzee's side have taken only one more point than United in their last five matches, sitting on 22 points and only ahead of Alex Smith's side on goal difference.

United have played Hibs twice so far this season winning an exciting SPL match at Tannadice 3-1 back in October with goals from Hamilton (2) and Griffin. United then lost 0-2 to the Easter Road side at the end of November in the Quarter-Finals of the CIS League Cup.

Alex Smith has injury problems with Captain Danny Griffin out along with Jim McIntyre, Hasney Aljofree and Jim Paterson who was taken off with a knock against Celtic. Derek Lilley comes into the reckoning having started his comeback trail coming on as a substitute on Saturday. Smith also has the option of Jamie McCunnie (pictured) whom he rested at the weekend with Marc Cocozza having made his debut against Celtic hoping to retain his place.

The United players trained today and will be in for more on New Year's Day. The match kicks off at 3pm and for price information, click on ADMISSION INFORMATION on the Menu Bar.
