Dundee United is delighted to announce Young Terrors Charlie Dewar and Brandon Forbes have signed their first professional contracts with the club after successful trial periods with the Under 18s.

Charlie joins us on a two-year contract from English youth side South Shields FC, where he skippered the U16s. The 16-year-old can play in a variety of defensive positions, particularly as a centre back. He is a very physical and combative central defender with an aerial presence in both boxes.

Charlie himself added, "I am honoured to sign for this great club, the hard work starts now.  I look forward to the challenges ahead of me with support from the fantastic staff and coaches."

Brandon joins us from youth club Thorn Athletic FC on a one-year deal. He had a successful period with the Renfrewshire club winning the U18 Scottish Youth Cup scoring a second-half hat-trick in the win. Brandon is a tenacious and creative forward player who can play both wide and in the central areas.

Brandon added, "Signing for Dundee United FC is a privilege that I do not take for granted. I am proud to be taking on this new challenge and excited to work alongside the staff and the squad in such a fantastic environment."

Upon the announcement, Academy Director Paul Cowie expressed his delight in securing Charlie and Brandon until 2025 and 2024 respectively. "We are delighted to secure two more high-potential players for the professional phase programme where the hard work starts now for them. They have to exhaust every opportunity at the St Andrews training centre to develop their game further.

Both players have been identified as part of our Talent ID and Recruitment strategy led by Paul Clark. We have been impressed with how both players have settled into their new environment and are excited to see how they progress under the stewardship of the U18 Coaching staff Andy Payne and Brian Grant."
