Dundee United Academy are currently looking for Volunteer Scouts to assist in various locations across Dundee, Perth, Fife & Angus.

The hope for this role is that you will play a key part to DUFC recruiting the best players in the local and surrounding areas and helping us to build on the success of the Dundee United Academy in recent years.

We are looking for enthusiastic and passionate people to join us as Volunteers for a local scouting team to help recruit and develop local players who have the potential to move through our academy pathway


Our expectations are that you will:

  • Work closely with the Head of Academy Talent ID and Recruitment and, where applicable Head of Recruitment, to identify, assess and recruitment young players in relation to the needs of the Player Pathway
  • Build relationships with local grassroots clubs and maintain a high level of professionalism when dealing with grassroots clubs
  • Develop and maintain a professional relationship with the relevant parents/guardians of players.
  • Attend games/festivals and build reports on players from across Tayside, Angus & Fife.
  • Communicate effectively with Academy staff and link closely with Head of Children’s and Head of Youth Pathways.
  • Attend and contribute to all Academy In-Service days and deliver input where required. 
  • Lead by example in ensuring all players live by the Values as we develop better young people as well as players within the DUFC Academy.
  • Maintain a valid and up to date PVG every three years. 

What you might bring to this role

  • Excellent communication skills specific to age and stage of players and other relevant partners (eg. parents, academy staff).
  • Ability to relate to and understand people, demonstrating personality and enthusiasm.
  • Previous experience in volunteering/working within football either in an academy, grassroots or educational setting.
  • Committed to volunteering In evenings and weekends as you’re attendance Is required at football games, festivals, academy fixtures.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of young players and parents/guardians.
  • Full driving licence and access to a car.
  • PVG check to be completed before appointment.
  • Hold Scottish FA Talent ID 1.1, 1.2 or 1.3 qualification or working towards.
