Dundee United can confirm Academy Director Paul Cowie is leaving the club to take up a first-team coaching role elsewhere.

Under Paul's leadership, our Academy has continued to achieve significant milestones, with thirteen Academy Graduates involved in United’s first team last term and three debutants coming from our U18 squad. We were also recently awarded the CAS Elite Status for the sixth year in a row - a testament to the hard work and dedication of Paul and his team.

Academy Director, Paul Cowie

Upon the announcement, Paul commented, "This has been a very difficult decision for me to make to leave this special club after five years in a variety of roles. I have thoroughly enjoyed being able to contribute to Dundee United's current success in developing young players for the first team. However, I have been afforded an excellent opportunity to progress my coaching career in a new First Team environment.

"I leave the Academy in a great place, where the foundations have been set with the recent announcement of the Elite Club Academy Scotland Status being maintained and the positive environment we have created together. This will allow my successor, the excellent current academy staff and promising young talent to continue to move forward from strength to strength.

"I would like to thank the Chairman, Scott Ogren, Luigi Capuano, the board and my predecessors for giving me the opportunity to lead the Academy and for their support both on and off the pitch in my personal and professional development. I would like to wish the club, all backroom staff, the academy both staff and players all the success in the future."

As Paul bids farewell to the club, he leaves behind a legacy of growth, achievement, and professionalism. His departure marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Academy as we look to build on the foundation laid and continue our journey towards excellence in youth development.

Chief Executive, Luigi Capuano added, “We would like to place on record our gratitude towards Paul Cowie for his work over the last two years.

“Paul and his team have continued the development and growth of our Academy, ensuring we have a strategy and structure in place to enable Dundee United to enjoy future success. As a club, we greatly value the development of Academy players and through Paul’s implementation of our strategic plan, we saw the fruits of our labour last season.

"We wish Paul the best of luck in his future endeavours and thank him for his invaluable contributions to the club's Academy."
