Following Saturday's draw at Livingston, resulting in what was thought by many to be an excellent point, the Manager reiterated on Monday that it could quite easily have been three. "We created a brilliant scoring chance in the final minute when Steven Thompson surged forward and played a great defence-splitting pass for Derek Lilley. Unfortunately, with a split second's hesitation, the chance to take us to victory was lost."
"There have been many opinions arising from Saturday's game suggesting that Livingston dominated proceedings for long periods. That may be true in terms of possession of ball - not in the creation of good scoring chances."
"Therefore", as the Manager defiantly added, "to suggest that it was a one-sided game is not the complete story. One has to admire Livingston's performance this season; they have on many occasions been a free-scoring side, but on Saturday, apart from during a 20 minute period in the second half, the opportunity to win the game was fairly even."
Good news from the injury front: both Jim McIntyre and Mark Wilson (pictured) reported back to Tannadice this morning having gone through arthroscopic knee-operations. "It is to be hoped that they will be completely successful as both are vital to the future success of United", the Manager maintained. "Jim Hamilton is also very close to full training and therefore will open up further options for striking positions alongside the well-performing Steven Thompson and Derek Lilley."
