The United Under-21 side lost 0-2 to the SPL Youth Under-21 Champions Celtic at Tannadice Park this afternoon never looking likely to take anything from the match that was played in the afternoon sunshine.
Dundee born Mark Fotheringham opened the scoring for Celtic on the quarter of an hour mark with Liam Keogh hitting a second just five minutes from full time.
United fielded both the recent trialists once again in a side that featured David McCracken, Stef McConalogue, David Winters and Stephen Carson.
The young Tangerines remain on course to finish in the top half of the table but will need to perform better than today if that aim is to become a reality.
