Dundee United are excited to announce that Jamie Forrest has penned his first professional contract with the club.

Earmarked as an emerging Scottish talent, Forrest began his Tannadice journey over half a decade ago, joining our U11s side in August 2019.

The midfielder’s development progressed exponentially, as he claimed the U11-14 Player of the Year award at the end of the 2021/22 campaign.

Aged just 14, Forrest was handed his Young Terrors debut by Brian Grant and Andy Payne last term, whilst also balancing his CAS Under-18s Elite League duties with his first Scotland U15s squad inclusion.

He began 2024/25 in scintillating form, finding the back of the net in victories over Celtic and Queen’s Park, and was subsequently named Academy Player of the Month for August.

This brought more international recognition, and Forrest was named in Stephen Clarke’s 20-man squad to contest the Victory Shield at Broadwood Stadium. The budding Tannadice prospect marked his competitive Scotland U16s debut with a goal from the spot in a dramatic shootout victory over the Republic of Ireland.

The deal will see him remain in the city of Discovery until at least the summer of 2027.

RETAINING THE BEST UP-AND-COMING TALENT

Academy Director, Scott Allison, expressed his satisfaction with Forrest’s decision to continue his career with the club, saying:

“We’re delighted that we’ve managed to convince Jamie and his family Tannadice is the best place to further his development.

“The club have fought off stiff competition from across the UK for his signature, conveying our desire to retain our best up-and-coming talent.

He continued: “We’re excited to support Jamie’s progression as a player and a person during his time at Dundee United, as he becomes what we hope will be the first of many emerging stars from our U16s age group to make the step into professional football.”
