After two strong performances last week, Under-21 Manager Maurice Malpas is looking for a similarly convincing effort from his young team tonight when they meet up with their Kilmarnock counterparts away from home. "We are looking to expand on the progress made last week", Maurice maintained. "If our last game against Killie up here at Tannadice is anything to go by, it will be a game of outstanding football while also an extremely tough contest. We will start the match with roughly the same line-up as Wednesday past with only two over-age players, namely Derek Lilley and Jim Paterson. I can confirm that the two trialists from the previous week will be fielded again and we shall take another close look at them".
On the challenge of ploughing through the team's busy fixture schedule, Maurice explained: "We are facing a second difficult week in succession with the match tonight and then our match versus Celtic at Tannadice (kick-off: 2.00pm) this coming Wednesday to be followed by a youth match versus Dundee on Friday, also at Tannadice. It is a rather heavy workload for our small squad, but we feel very encouraged by our recent outings and hope we can do again something special tonight".
