Former Aberdeen, Rangers and Scotland defender Stephen Wright was one of a handful of guests as new manager Alex Smith took full advantage of a closed-doors affair against Stenhousemuir.
The 28 year-old defender became available under Bosman, after two years at Bradford, and boss Smith was quick to respond with an invitation to Tannadice. Smith explained,"I have taken a close interest in Stephen's career since we worked together at Pittodrie. "I rate him highly, but will make my judgement after seeing him in action in the game and in training with the first-team squad."
United may face opposition for the defender from Sheffield Wednesday, who offered the experienced defender a short-term contract at Hillsborough. Also involved in the closed-doors exercise was Danish midfielder Carsten Henningsen and players from Germany and Holland.
