IVANOVS GOES BACK TO LATVIA

Latvian international midfielder Valerijs Ivanovs has flown back home following his guest spell with United at Tannadice but his future could still lie with the Tangerines, that is if Manager Alex Smith gives the green light to an offer for the 65-times capped star.

The boss plans to spend the weekend pondering over a possible move for the experienced Ivanovs, after he impressed during his stay on Tayside. Explained Smith,"Valerijs had not played a competitive game since before the Russian First Division's winter break in late November, and therefore was not fully fit. But you could see that he is a player, and we could whip him into shape very quickly. And it is clear that he is keen to join us".

Also on Smith's wanted list is Spanish winger Raul Sanchez, who could be coaxed into a short-term contract early next week. And a third trialist, a winger from England, will get a further chance to impress when United contest in more closed-doors activity over the weekend.

United's youngsters completed a 3-3 draw with Dundee in a city derby Scottish Youth League fixture at Gussie Park.
