HANNAH AND SMITH IN CUP CONTENTION

15th February 2001

Despite Thursday's Under-21 League encounter at Dunfermline being called off, midfielder Dave Hannah could make a first team return in Saturday's Tennent's Scottish Cup tie against Motherwell at Fir Park.

Hannah, who has been hampered by a groin problem since October, was to have been given valuable match practice at East End Park. Even though that will not now happen, he could still be handed a place on the bench against 'Well. "He has been working hard and he has the experience and fitness level required for consideration," said Alex.

Also set to be in Alex's squad for the weekend is former Airdrie handyman Tony Smith. He too has had injury problems, but has impressed the Manager in training. "Tony has a tremendous record in the Scottish Cup, having reached a final and several semis during his spell at Airdrie," added Alex.
