United fans will have to wait until Tuesday morning before finding out if the team will see SPL action against Aberdeen at Pittodrie in the evening.
With heavy snow falling for most of the weekend and more forecast, United had asked for a decision on the game to be made on Monday. The Dons, who called the game off at over 24 hours notice when it was originally due to take place back in December, declined to do that and a decision will instead be taken in the morning.
They have said their pitch, unplayable for the visit of Hibs at the weekend, is in reasonable condition, though Tannadice boss Alex Smith has pointed out there are other concerns. "If the weather is like this I do not think it would be fair to ask our fans to travel, but we have to treat it as game on and we will prepare properly for it," he said.
Goalie Paul Gallacher and midfielder Hugh Davidson both have knee knocks but are expected to recover in time, though the game remains in severe doubt.
